DAY 172 - 174: Fuessen

And then I was in Fuessen, in Bayern, in the far south of Germany, close to the Austrian border. I arrived on the Friday to a glorious, sunny, warm day. And luckily I checked in and immediately went out, walked around two small lakes, up and over a hill to a waterfall, then down into the old part of Fuessen.... because it was not going to last.
Now Germany..... it is not Italy! There is nothing, NOTHING peeling or falling off. No graffiti in this town. Everything is beautifully clean and straight and organised. And so friendly! Gruess Gott is the local greeting and everyone says hi.
Day two I had planned to visit Burg Neuschwannstein, the castle on which the "Disney Castle" is based. And it rained and rained and rained some more. I still gave it a go, walked to the station to catch the bus, got to the castle-area (there are two castles there) and lined up for a ticket only to find all tickets for Neuschwannstein for the day were sold out. Oh well, by then I was totally irritated by the many tourists anyway, so I had some Currywurst and went back to where it was warm and dry and comfy. And used the time to Facebook instead.
Today the weather is a bit better but believe me, I have no intentions to go deal with those hordes of tourists again.... I did some laundry and went for a walk in nature instead. And I packed. Tomorrow it's on to Frankfurt and on Tuesday it's off to Namibia. 6 months gone, just like that!

This is where I was staying.
