DAY 179 - 209: Luderitz Part 5: Koichab Camping in the Dunes
Part of my brother's business is guided 4X4 Dune Driving / Camping trips. I was fortunate enough to once again go along for 2 nights sleeping in tents miles from human habitation. It is one of the most amazing experiences. I am not really comfortable with the idea of driving over the dunes, sliding down the steep side. It scares me stiff but I know I am in good hands and that helps. Don't think I would do it with anyone but my little Bro behind the wheel.
Our Irish couple and South African-Irish couple. I kept thinking about Mrs Brown's Boys... especially when Rory got going!
One of the Koichab pump stations where Lüderitz gets it's drinking water from.
The trailer was really not going to play along. Luckily it was only going to the campsite and we would then return every night to the same spot. Without the trailer, we could have slept anywhere.
Making camp at the end of day one.
My tent on the right.
Early morning, only one up.
Heinz boiling water for coffee.
You will not find a toilet with a better view than this one!
Day 2 and the practicing starts!
Getting stuck is part of the fun... it is what campfire stories are made of.
Lunch in the dunes!
This spider does not spin a web... it does earthworks.
On the way back
Last stop.
Discussing how the little jeep behaved and if it will make the whole safari.... It still had to go all the way north through Africa.
I am sure our Irish took away many memories with them.
